Rashid Khan Pulls Out Of The Hundred 2023; Wants To Focus On World Cup 2023

Rashid Khan, who recently played for MI New York in MLC 2023, has pulled himself out of the upcoming The Hundred 2023 season. The Afghanistan-based all-rounder was set to play three matches for Trent Rockets in the tournament, with the first of those fixtures being the opening game between Rockets and Southern Brave at Trent Bridge on August 1.

Khan withdraws from The Hundred owing to an injury concern

Rashid Khan delivered a match-winning spell for MI New York in the MLC 2023 final, thus leading them to title victory with the ball in the tournament’s inaugural season.

The 24-year-old was set to participate in the subsequent The Hundred 2023 for Trent Rockets, before withdrawing from the competition owing to an unspecified injury concern. Notably, his stint with the Rockets was limited to their first three matches of the season, with the spinner set to be replaced by New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi.

The Rockets have already signed Khan’s replacement for their first three games, roping in Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim.

The Afghanistan legend also missed out from his national side’s ODI matches in Sri Lanka earlier this year owing to a back injury concern. With his latest withdrawal from The Hundred 2023 season, the cricketer can now enjoy an extended break before resuming his international commitments.

Afghanistan is set to play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in August, before both teams depart for the much-awaited Asia Cup 2023. The tournament will be jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and is set to be played between August 30 and September 17.

Afghanistan’s upcoming international fixtures will serve them with much preparation ground for the much-awaited ODI World Cup in India.
