Rajat Patidar continued his impressive comeback trail after sustained injury struggles with another terrific outing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023-24 for Madhya Pradesh on Saturday (November 25).

The rising young talent hammered 70 off just 27 deliveries in MP's dominant victory over Nagaland in Round 2 of Group E matches during India's premier domestic List A competition.

Patidar went absolutely ablaze in MP's triumphant run-chase of Nagaland's embarrassing 131 all out in 41 overs. While the Nagaland players struggled to withstand the more experienced Madhya Pradesh bowlers, Patidar came out firing on the same pitch in the second half and struck nine fours and five sixes in his blistering effort.

The 30-year-old vying for an India cap in the near future pulverised the opposition attack during an imposing opening stand of 127 runs with Yash Dubey, who mustered an unbeaten 49 off 30 deliveries. Patidar was dismissed just before the winning runs were hit but ended his knock with an eye-catching strike rate of 259.26.

Notably, it was Patidar's second successive half-century of the VJHT 2023-24 after smashing 64 off 52 deliveries in a similarly dominant run-chase for Madhya Pradesh against Goa in the opening round fixture of Group E.

The elegant right-hander had belted six fours and two sixes during his magnificent innings on that occasion and finished with a strike-rate of 123.08 as MP overhauled Goa's 272/9 inside 40 overs.

For two straight matches, MP has seemed intent on operating at a higher tempo with the bat to ensure they ruffle opposition feathers early and don't allow the bowlers to settle down while boosting the NRR at the same time.

Patidar has led the conquest from the front in the top order with his amazing blitz and overall attacking approach to also underline his talent and promise. The cricketer had a remarkable 2021-22 domestic season and played an influential role for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2022, including a memorable century in the Eliminator versus Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
