India's ouster from the Asia Cup 2022 in the Super 4 stage came as a shock for everyone ahead of the home series against Australia. However, Team India's thumping defeat at Mohali on Tuesday invited criticism from all quarters regarding selection and performances.

Head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma, who have had smooth sailing thus far, now face uncompromising problems heading into the marquee ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in October.

Men in Blue take on rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23 in their tournament opener.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly, speaking to PTI, said that both Dravid and Sharma will look to improve from hereon, keeping in mind the 20-overs global event Down Under.

"Rohit Sharma has a winning percentage of almost 80. India has lost last three-four matches but before that he has led in 35-40 matches and lost just five or six. I am sure Rohit and Rahul Dravid will be concerned about the team and everything, and they will improve.

"I am not worried about one or two losses, but yes, we have not done well in big tournaments. We will talk about that. The team will leave (for T20 World Cup in Australia) two to three weeks, will get time to acclimatise and play practice matches."

The remaining two T20Is against Australia will be played today, and Sunday, respectively. Just after the conclusion, the Indian team will play South Africa in a three-T20I series, followed by a three-One-Day International (ODI) series.
