Punjab Kings Sign Gurnoor Singh Brar for IPL 2023

In significant developments, Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings have signed young Punjab-based Gurnoor Singh Brar for the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). Brar has been brought in as a replacement for an injured Raj Angad Bawa.

The Under-19 World Cup-winning all-rounder, Bawa - who made his IPL debut against Bangalore last season - has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2023 season due to a shoulder injury.

The announcement was made by the IPL through a press release; however, the franchise is yet to post the new signing on their social media.

The 22-year-old Brar has been roped in by the Punjab franchise at his base price of INR 20 lakhs.

Meanwhile, Bawa has bought at a staggering price of INR 2 crore ahead of the IPL 2022 season, and the team even decided to retain him for this year.

Meanwhile, the latest entrant to the PBKS lineup is a like-to-like replacement for Bawa. However, Brar is a left-handed batting all-rounder who bowls left-arm medium pace.


Who is Gurnoor Brar?

Brar is a 22-year old batting all-rounder from Punjab, who made his domestic debut in 2021 and he has played 5 First-Class games and a sole List-A fixture. Although he still has to make his T20 debut.

Under the newly-turned captain Dhawan, Punjab began their IPL campaign on a high, beating KKR by 7 runs on the D/L method. They will play their second fixture on Wednesday against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati.
