Punjab edge past Chennai in a thriller, Dhawan reaches big milestone and much more..

Punjab outmatch Chennai in the Clash of Kings

Ambati Rayudu's whirlwind onslaught wasn't enough as the Chennai Super Kings ended up 11 runs short of the target against Punjab Kings on Monday night to succumb to their sixth defeat of the season.

Shikhar Dhawan spearheaded Punjab Kings' batting effort courtesy of an unbeaten 59-ball 88. The southpaw was at his typical best, dissecting gaps like a surgeon. Rajapaksa, too, played some delightful strokes, but it's fair to say that he rode his luck to the hilt as he was dropped twice - by Gaikwad and Santner on 1 & 26.

Shikhar Dhawan becomes the 2nd person ever to reach 6000 IPL runs

Punjab Kings batter Shikhar Dhawan brought up a historic milestone on April 25, Monday, completing 6000 runs in the Indian Premier League.

Records galore for Dhawan in his side's fixture against the Ravindra Jadeja-led Chennai Super Kings as he became the second batter to go past the 6000-run mark in his 200th IPL match.

Besides Dhawan, Royal Challengers Bangalore's Virat Kohli is the only cricketer to achieve the landmark figure. The former India captain did so while playing for the Bangalore-based franchise in the 2021 edition of the IPL.

BCCI post likely to put an end to bio-bubbles post IPL

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has stated that it is likely that they will discard the bio-bubble mandates for players during the South Series series. The five-match T20I series schedule was announced earlier this week.

The bio-bubbles have become a part of a sportsperson's life since the onset of the global pandemic. Players have been confined in their hotels under strict bubble rules for more than two years now, but the board understands that such a set-up is taking a significant toll on the players' mental health in the longer run.

Mehedi Hasan doubtful to start against Sri Lanka

Ahead of the two-match home Test series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh have been hit with a massive shock. It is learned that the bowling all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz has endured a fracture in his right hand's little finger. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury has confirmed the news.

"Miraz has dislocated his right hand's little finger, and there is also a slight fracture on his finger. We have recommended him two weeks of rest and will observe his condition later," BCB chief physician said as quoted by The Daily Star.

The injury has ruled the all-rounder from playing cricket for almost two weeks. Miraz succumbed to the injury while playing for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club on Sunday against Prime Bank Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier League.

False alarm over Ben Foakes as the player passes concussion test

In the latest turn of events, England's wicketkeeper, Ben Foakes, who saw a dramatic on-field collision with teammate Jamie Overton, returned to don the wicketkeeping gloves on Sunday.

The English wicketkeeper was able to walk off the field with help from Alex Tysoe, the lead physio and took 10 minutes of treatment after the nasty collision.

The incident saw Foakes diving to his right to take a catch to dismiss Tom Banton off Reece Topley's bowling, while Jamie Overton dived to his left at first slip, which saw Foakes hit in the head by the slip fielder's shoulder.

Foakes didn't sustain any serious injuries as he passed the concussion test and was allowed to retake the field in the County Championship game against Somerset at the Kia Oval.
