On Saturday, Middlesex etched their name in history books, accomplishing the highest-ever successful run chase in T20 Blast competition. Bowling first, Middlesex conceded mammoth 252 runs before chasing the target with seven wickets to spare, thanks to exceptional knocks from Stephen Eskinazi, Max Holden and Ryan Higgins. This emphatic victory helped them to not only open their account in the tournament but also break their embarrassing fourteen-match losing streak.

After being put into bat first, Surrey had a dream start to their innings, as Will Jacks and Laurie Evans set the foundation of a huge total, stitching a belligerent 177-run stand for the first wicket. While Evans clobbered nine fours and five sixes for his 37-ball 85, Jacks hammered 96 runs, studded with eight fours and seven maximums.

After they got out, useful cameos from Jamie Overton, Chris Jordan and Sean Abbott propelled Surrey to a gigantic total of 252 runs in 20 overs.

In response, Middlesex were off to a flier, with skipper Eskinazi and Joe Cracknell adding 90 runs in just 6.3 overs for the first wicket. After they got out in quick succession, the dynamic duo of Holden and Higgins took the Surrey bowlers to the cleaners en route a match-winning stand of 105 runs between them.

Their valiant efforts worked wonders, as Jack Davies' eventually sealed the game for Middlesex with a boundary through backward point. This is also the second-highest successful run chase in the history of T20 cricket.
