Peshawar Zalmi will cross swords with Islamabad United in the 5th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League at the National Stadium in Karachi on January 30, 2022. This is the second game for Peshawar, with Islamabad making their first appearance in the current season.

Peshawar are currently in second place with a win against Quetta as they chased down a heavy target of 191 with two balls to spare. Hussain Talat and Shoaib Malik were their stars in the chase. Former scored a gutsy 52 while skipper Malik was unbeaten on 48 to steer his side past the winning line in a tricky chase.

They have some thinking to do in their bowling department. Apart from Usman Qadir no one really looked like challenging the Quetta batters and got hit all around the park. Since they ended up on a winning side we don’t see any changes in the squad. However, the bowlers have to pull up their socks in this challenging encounter.

Islamabad on the other hand are playing their first game of the season. They are the most successful team in the history of PSL with two titles to their name. Though they finished at the top of the points table they couldn’t make it to the finals after being defeated by Multan in the Qualifier and Peshawar in the Eliminator. They will try to replicate something similar to last year's performance.

The Pakistani leggie, Shadab Khan will lead the side this season too. Barring him, they have the services of some big names like Alex Hales, Marchant de Lange, Faheem Ashraf, Asif Ali, Hasan Ali, and Paul Stirling. Meanwhile, Reece Topley has withdrawn his name from the tournament. 

Can Shoaib Mailk and company make it two in a row, or will Islamabad continue on their winning ways from last season? Only time will tell.
