In an incident during the live screening of the IND vs AUS 4th T20I match in Raipur, two Indian men, Inayath and Syed Mubarak, were arrested for chanting pro-Pakistan slogans. This comes just a month after a similar incident during the World Cup 2023 in Bengaluru when a Pakistani fan was stopped from expressing support for his team.

As per reports by Indian Express, two suspects, residents of New Gurappana Palya in Bengaluru, were watching the match at Mockaholic Pub when a heated exchange took place around 10.30 pm. Allegedly, a patron in the pub shouted 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai,' provoking a strong reaction from Inayath, Syed Mubarak, and their friends who retaliated with chants of 'Pakistan Zindabad.'

The situation escalated into a verbal altercation as other patrons objected to the pro-Pakistan slogans. The pub manager, Sudhir Singh, promptly called the police to intervene. Inayath and Syed were apprehended, while their two friends managed to escape.

The J. P. Nagar police station registered a case against the arrested individuals under Sections 153(a) and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

These sections pertain to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and making the publication and circulation of content that may cause ill-will or hatred between different groups an offense, respectively.

This incident underscores the importance of maintaining sportsmanship and fostering a spirit of unity during sporting events. Authorities continue to emphasize the need for responsible fan behavior, urging citizens to express their enthusiasm without resorting to actions that may promote discord.
