KL Rahul may not hail from Punjab, but his bond with the state runs deep. The stylish India batter, who once led Punjab Kings with distinction, shared an emotional note on Instagram as floods wreak havoc across the state.

KL Rahul’s Emotional Message For Punjab Amid Flood Crisis

“Praying for everyone in Punjab. Stay safe, stay strong,”  KL Rahul wrote on his story, a message that has touched fans who still remember him as one of their own.

Punjab is facing what officials are calling the worst floods in 25 years. The state has received 253.7 mm of rain in August 2025, 74% more than the average. The deluge has already claimed over 30 lives with more than 1,300 villages under water.

Around 6,500 people have been shifted to 122 relief shelters as Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar remain among the hardest hit.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has warned that the situation could worsen, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after returning from the SCO summit in China, assured full support from the centre.

Punjab Cricketers Rally For Support

Several cricketers from Punjab, including Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Shubman Gill, have already posted emotional appeals for the state. Their voices carry a lot of weight given their roots in the region. Rahul’s post has added to the support and showed fans that while he may be from Karnataka, his years with Punjab Kings created a lasting connect.

Rahul’s Punjab Kings Legacy

Between 2018 and 2021, Rahul was the heartbeat of the Punjab Kings batting lineup. In just 55 games, he piled up a staggering 2,548 runs at an average of 56.62.

For the fans, he was the flagbearer of hope. Even today, his bond with Punjab fans remains strong and his message in these trying times shows that how much the franchise means to him.
