After Saturday (February 4)'s meeting between the members of the Asian Cricket Council, there were many media speculations over the future of the upcoming Asia Cup going out of Pakistan, its original host.

Some reports stated that the ACC members have decided to play the tournament at a neutral venue, i.e. the United Arab Emirates. But, then, some were also saying that the Pakistan Cricket Board has held its stance solid of pulling out of the ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to be played in India, if India doesn't tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

A renowned media outfit ESPNcricinfo published a copy that said, "All ACC members are believed to have been asked to seek their own government's positions on whether their teams could travel to Pakistan."

However, the PCB hasn't taken it well as they have publicly responded to the circulating media reports.

Replying to the media outfit, the PCB has come out with their cryptic response and mentioned, "No such matters were raised in the meeting, nor did any member indicate any intention to seek government clearance for playing in Pakistan."

"Sri Lanka has recently visited Pakistan in 2017 and 2019, while Bangladesh has toured Pakistan in 2020. In the 2023-2027 Future Tours Programme (FTP), which has been agreed and announced by all ICC Members, Afghanistan Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have confirmed their tours to Pakistan," the PCB release further rectified.

The ACC officially didn't release any media release or minutes from the meeting held in Bahrain. Although it is understood that a further meeting has been scheduled for next month, where all members will be meeting again to discuss the fate of the Asian tournament.

Since the return of international cricket in Pakistan, Asia Cup 2023 is considered their dress rehearsal for the Champions Trophy of 2027, which ICC has awarded them to host.
