  • Pcb Mulling The Idea Of Hosting More Tri Series In The New Ftp To Generate Revenue

PCB mulling the idea of hosting more tri-series in the new FTP to generate revenue

On Wednesday (20 July), a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) source hinted at the addition of more Tri-series  clashes in their Future Tours Programme (FTP) from 2023 to 2027.

PCB is trying to accommodate a tri-series involving the teams like Australia and England on home soil. The same development is set to be finalized at the ICC chief executive’s meeting in Birmingham next week. PCB is said to have reached this decision, because of their low chances of playing a bilateral series against India.

Earlier this year, the apex board had rejected the idea of a quadrilateral T20 series involving Pakistan, Australia, England, and India.

“Pakistan has taken the stance that since it will not be playing India in any bilateral series in the new FTP cycle it wants to host more tri-series events at home to generate revenue," the source said.

“Bangladesh and West Indies have more matches because they will play India several times in the new FTP while Pakistan will not."

Busy new FTP for the Pakistan team

According to the source, the Pakistan team is set to play a total of 133 games in the 2023-27 period, which includes hosting Australia, England, and New Zealand at home.

These fixtures are expected to include 29 Tests, 49 ODIs and 55 T20Is, which might increase after the finalization of FTP.

“Eight five percent of the new FTP is final and Pakistan will play a total of 133 international games between 2023 and 2027, including 12 home series against Australia, England, New Zealand," he added.

Currently, the Babar Azam-led side is on a Tour to Sri Lanka and have started the red-ball series with a win by four wickets. In this pursuit, they registered their second-highest successful chase in Test cricket history.
