In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a complaint against Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. The PCB has accused Arshdeep of making obscene gestures during the Super Four encounter between the two sides.

PCB approaches ICC over Arshdeep's response to Rauf

This year's Asia Cup edition has grabbed the attention for all the wrong reasons. While cricketing excellence has taken a back seat, controversial acts and statements, particularly from Indian and Pakistani players, have made it into the headlines.

The geopolitical conflict between India and Pakistan has only aggravated in the aftermath of the Operation Sindoor, the Indian army's retaliatory strike in response to the Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam. Despite both sides agreeing to a ceasefire along the border, the players from India and Pakistan maintained a distance between themselves, with several on-field incidents adding fuel to the fire, further worsening the cricketing ties.

Amid the on-field tussle, Haris Rauf mocked the Indian fans with a controversial gesture, promoting Pakistan's unverified claim of downing six Indian jets during the war. In retaliation, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh signalled jet while eventually pointing towards the bottom in a befitting symbolic response to his Pakistani counterpart.

The PCB was not too pleased with Arshdeep's gestures, approaching the ICC to take strict action on the Indian pacer. Reputed Pakistani media agency Geo Super reported that the PCB has demanded punishment for Arshdeep, citing his conduct as unethical and against the spirit of the game. The report also claimed that Arshdeep violated the ICC Code of Conduct, which is why he deserves to be sanctioned by the apex cricketing body.

Meanwhile, Geo Super also stated that the PCB would challenge the ICC's decision to penalise Haris Rauf for his gestures towards the Indian fans.
