The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are finding themselves inside a clutter that has been created by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup, which is to be held in India in October-November this year. With the tournament less than three months away, Cricket's apex board is yet to announce its schedule, and the prime reason for it is Pakistan are not working with the blueprint sketched by the BCCI.

It has been understood that PCB has reservations about not playing India at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, one of the country's biggest crowd-holder. Now, some reports have emerged that state Pakistan - alongside their fixture against the hosts - have shown disinterest in playing Afghanistan in Chennai.

As per a report published by Cricket Pakistan, the Men In Gree want to play Afghanistan in Bengaluru instead of Chennai due to the latter's ability to favour the spinners more than the quicks.

"Chennai's pitch has a reputation for favoring spinners, presenting a challenge for the Pakistan team in their upcoming match against Afghanistan, who possess talented slow bowlers. As a result, Pakistan has requested to relocate their match against Australia to Chennai and their match against Afghanistan to Bengaluru," the report cited.

Earlier, PCB held their cards together, which made BCCI agree to a hybrid model for the Asia Cup 2023, scheduled to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Nevertheless, as per the Pakistan board, they are waiting for their government's allowance to give their heads-up to contest the upcoming ICC event.

Due to the geopolitical differences between India and Pakistan, both nations have cut ties between them and only meet each other on limited occasions, such as ICC and ACC events.
