It has been a while since the World Cup Australian skipper Pat Cummins has featured in one of the biggest Big Bash League 2023-24 (BBL|13), but that is set to change this year since the bowling superstar has signed up as a supplementary player for the Sydney Thunder side for the ongoing edition.

This would mean despite his unavailability to be able to represent his side due to international commitments, Cummins would actively participate in the club's various campaigns alongside some events with the side.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan and West Indies will be engaged against the Australian side in a three and two-match Test series, respectively, which would overlap with the BBL|13, making it quite unlikely for him to join the side in the playing capacity.

Being the 19th member of the squad, he could be brought in if he becomes available for any of the Thunder's games during the season.

Having previously donned the jersey in 2019-20, Cummins has been absent from the league alongside some other big names, but most of them are trying to make a comeback now despite a busy summer.

On joining his side back after a gap of four years, Cummins said,

"I'm a Western Sydney guy at heart so I'm really glad I can be a part of the team this summer. International duties dictate I can’t be around as much as I'd like but I’m keen to have a voice and back the guys all the way!"

Meanwhile, Andrew Gilchrist, the head of Sydney Thunder, also spoke on the marquee player re-joining his side,

"We're incredibly lucky to have Pat on board. He's a true great of the game and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has had a terrific impact on the team every year he’s been involved and I’m sure it'll be the same even from a far this time around."

BBL|13 will run until the 24th of January, with the league stage ending on the 17th of January with the Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Renegades game.
