The Pakistan national selection committee convened a local meeting at a hotel in Islamabad, specifically for players who had taken part in the Kakul physical training session.
Out of the 29 players who had attended the training, one notable absence stood out: Mohammed Rizwan, the wicketkeeper batter for Pakistan.
The meeting was primarily aimed at winning the confidence of Pakistani players in the selection policies of the PCB.
Discussions centered around topics such as the rotation policy and the inclusion of new players, with an emphasis on providing ample opportunities for deserving new talents.
The objective was to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process while building trust and assurance among the players.
There was one big players absence that bought up rumors. It was Mohammad Rizwan who was absent. His absence from the meeting was due to his journey to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah on Sunday night, a personal commitment.
Leadership shift at Pakistan team
PCB reinstated Babar Azam as captain for T20I series vs New Zealand, replacing Shaheen Afridi. Rumors suggest that the meeting aimed to garner support from players regarding this decision.
Prior to this, there were rumors circulating that Shaheen Afridi appeared disheartened during the Kakul camp regarding captaincy change.
The New Zealand men’s team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on 14 April to participate in a five-match T20I series, beginning on 18 April.
This series, consisting of five T20 games, is perceived as crucial practice matches ahead of the World Cup.
