According to emerging reports, Sri Lanka might host Pakistan in a three-match T20I series on home soil, as both teams prepare for the T20 World Cup next year. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in talks with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), with both boards trying to figure out a suitable window for three T20Is between the Asian giants as their final dress rehearsal for the 2026 World Cup edition.

PAK vs SL T20Is likely to be held in January 2026

Although India is the official host of the 2026 T20 World Cup, Pakistan, as a part of the PCB's agreement with the ICC and the BCCI, will play all their games in Sri Lanka. As the Men in Green seek ample game time for their World Cup-bound players, the PCB has reportedly held discussions with the SLC regarding a three-match T20I series on the Lankan soil.

As reported by Geo Super, the T20I series could be tentatively scheduled from January 8 to 12. The iconic R. Premadasa Stadium and the Pallekele International Stadium will undergo renovation in the said period ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Therefore, the three T20Is between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at the Ranagiri Dambulla International Stadium, if reports are to be believed.

Led by Agha Salman, Pakistan recently registered a T20I series win over South Africa before swatting aside Sri Lanka by three-nil in an ODI series at home. They have been magnificent in the home tri-series, qualifying for the final with three consecutive victories. Up next, they will take on Sri Lanka in the sixth T20I of the tri-series before the ultimate clash on November 29.
