PAK vs AUS | 1st Test: Imam-ul-Haq, Shafique notch up individual tons in second innings

Pakistan openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq were on a roll in the second innings of the first Test against Australia in Rawalpindi after both the players notched up individual tons and frustrated the Aussie bowling unit.

While Imam completed his second hundred of the match, Shafique who had missed out on a fifty in the first innings scored a century in the second. The two batters had already stitched a stand of over 220 runs and stretched the lead to 240 at the time of writing.

It has been a run feast in Rawalpindi after both the sides posted big totals on the board. The hosts rode on centuries from Imam and Azhar Ali 476/4 (D) in the first innings while Australia also managed to score 459 before getting bowled out. Usman Khawaja top-scored with 97 while Labuschagne struck 90 during the course for Australia.

Nauman was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan in the first innings after he scalped six wickets.

The track at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium has faced some criticism after it didn’t really offer anything to the bowlers. Moreover, the pitch is likely to be investigated by the ICC.
