Yash Dhull eager to learn from Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant

The Indian Premier League has been a platform that helps young rising stars meet some of the biggest names in the game. It helps them gain massive experience by interacting and playing with some of the most experienced players in the world. One player whose dream is all set to come true is the Delhi batsman Yash Dhull.

The 19-year-old player was picked by the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 auction. It was a great buy for the Delhi side as they picked the rising star for just Rs 50 lakh. Dhull had recently led India to the Under 19 World Cup title after they beat England in the final clash.

The youngster seemed excited as he would get to meet the legendary Virat Kohli during the IPL. “I am eager to meet Virat bhaiya. He has been my inspiration. I have always idolized him. I want to interact with him and take a lot of tips from him,” said Dhull in an exclusive interview with TimesofIndia.com.

“I want to ask him how he bats in crunch and high-pressure games, how he manages to control his mind, and how he took his fitness to another level. I have led the under-19 team but the way Virat bhaiya handled his team and players was amazing,” he added.

Kohli has been an inspiration for him and if he can pick up the Indian greats brains it will definitely help him going ahead.

Dhull seemed really happy that he was picked by the Delhi side. "I am so excited to be able to play with the Delhi Capitals. Delhi is my home team and playing for the home team is a different feeling altogether. I started my career with Delhi and played all my cricket for Delhi and will now be playing IPL cricket for Delhi,” he added.

Dhull also showered words of praise for the Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant.

"Rishabh bhaiya is a great motivator and a very good captain. I want to learn the nuances of a leadership role from him. He is so energetic on the field. The way he enjoys his game and keeps motivating and encouraging his teammates, from behind the wickets, is amazing," he said.

After winning the U-19 World Cup the youngster went on to make his first class debut. After hitting twin hundreds in his debut match he followed it up with a double hundred in the next game. He has been in prolific form in red ball cricket and would love to continue this good form to the IPL as well.

The 19-year-old is aware of the challenge he will have to face going into the toughest league in the world. "DC has an experienced side. There are big stars in their dressing room. I am going in after playing Under-19 cricket and will be facing a new challenge. A good IPL can provide a massive boost to his career.
