PAK Pacer Reacts To T20 World Cup's Training Camp Snub After Amir, Imad's Inclusion

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have announced a list of 29 players set to take part in a fitness camp between March 26 and April 8 in Abbottabad in lieu of this year’s T20 World Cup 2024.

While the 29-player panel features several team regulars like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi among others; the cricket board also added Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim to their line-up for the training camp.

Both Amir and Wasim recently reversed their retirements from international cricket to make themselves available for a spot in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup team.

Meanwhile, young fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani, who played the last of his 13 internationals for Pakistan back in October 2022, was overlooked for the same as his prospects of a potential return to ‘Men in Green’ setup coped a massive blow during a major T20 season.

Shahnawaz Dahani sarcastically reacts to training snub

Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani was excluded from the team’s 29-player group set to take part in a pre-T20 World Cup 2024 training camp in Abbottabad this week.

The 25-year-old, however, seems to be unaffected by the snub as evidenced by his recent colourful jibe aimed at the PCB. Mere hours after his exclusion from the 29-player training group, Dahani took to X (formerly Twitter) and jokingly bragged about his fitness by claiming that he does not need any camp to begin with. He wrote:“No regrets for me, as I will still be the fittest bowler even after this camp.”

A number of Pakistan players recently turned up for their respective franchises in the PSL 2024 season, where the Shadab Khan-led Islamabad United defeated table-toppers Multan Sultans in the final.

Pakistan is one of the 20 teams set to take part in this year’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA in June. They are clubbed in Group A alongside Ireland, Canada, co-hosts USA and arch-rivals India.
