Pakistan as they have done throughout this Asia Cup 2023, have announced their playing 11 vs Sri Lanka, a day before the match, revealing some big changes. Naseem Shah has been ruled out of Asia Cup 2023 and with Haris Rauf also not fit after an abdominal injury against India, Pakistan have replaced them with Mohammed Wasim and Zaman Khan.

Also, Fakhar Zaman has been dropped after his poor run of form throughout this Asia Cup and Mohammad Haris is slotted to open with Imam-ul-Haq. Overall, Pakistan have made 5 changes to their playing 11 that lost comprehensively against India and it is quite a bold decision from the management going into a do-or-die game against Sri Lanka.

Apart from Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan have also dropped Agha Salman and Faheem Ashraf.  Saud Shakeel gets his opportunity in the middle order after mediocre returns from Agha Salman. Pakistan are going with three pace options in this game compared to the four they went against India which looks like a good decision considering how spinners dominated the proceedings in the India-Sri Lanka game.

Pakistan's Playing XI vs Sri Lanka

Mohammad Haris, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan (VC), Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Wasim, Zaman Khan.

Talking about the importance of the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, it is a must-win game for both the sides and the team that will win this game will meet India in the final of the Asia Cup 2023. India sealed their spot in the final after a tense win against Sri Lanka and expect an intense battle between the Lankans and Pakistan as they eye a spot in the summit clash of this Asia Cup.
