Dhruv Shorey and Nitish Rana, both of whom have captained Delhi in domestic cricket, have approached DDCA for a no-objection certificate (NoC) as they want to play for a different team in the upcoming domestic season.

Both Shorey and Rana were searching for alternatives following the conclusion of the previous domestic season. They were dissatisfied with the path their careers were heading and had officially expressed their desire to pursue new opportunities.

In a Ranji Trophy match in January, Nitish Rana registered scores of 11 and an unbeaten 6 runs for Delhi in a win over Mumbai. He later chose to withdraw himself from consideration for the team's final match of the season against Hyderabad.

"Nitish Rana was exploring options after the last season ended. He wasn’t happy with the way he was dropped midway through last season and was on the lookout. He returned for the game against Mumbai and then made himself unavailable for the game against Hyderabad," a source told CricketNext.

"With regards to Dhruv, he was a red-ball asset for Delhi but wasn’t happy with opportunities in shorter formats. He still wants to play white ball cricket," the source added.

As of August 2023, Rana has played 44 first-class, 71 List A and 175 T20 matches. In the IPL, where he captained Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023, Rana has played 105 matches, scoring 2594 runs at an average of 31.77 and a strike rate of 135.25.
