NED vs ENG | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

Netherlands and England are all set to lock horns against each other in a three-match ODI series, starting from June 17 (Thursday). However, England will be missing a few key players for the short tour, given that a couple of first-team players will be with the Test squad for the Kiwi challenge.

Nevertheless, the visitors have named a strong 14-member squad for the series, which Eoin Morgan will lead.

Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone and Dawid Malan will spearhead a dynamic batting lineup. Jos Buttler is expected to assume the wicket-keeping duties and will see this as an opportunity to prepare himself before the home series against India. English all-rounder Moeen Ali, who recently announced the reversal of his Test retirement, is also included in the 14-man squad.

David Willey and Adil Rashid will be the lead options in a somewhat inexperienced bowling setup. England returns to ODI action for the first time in almost 11 months. Their last 50-over assignment came in July 2021, when they clean-swept Pakistan by 3-0 at home.

The Netherlands have named an 18-man squad for the home series, which experienced all-rounder, Pieter Seelaar, will lead. The Dutchmen have been humbled in all three ODI series they have played in 2022. In the last six months, the Netherlands has been whitewashed by the likes of Afghanistan, New Zealand and the West Indies.

The pressure seems to be growing on skipper Pieter Seelaar to start delivering results in the 50-over format. Their last ODI victory came over a year back against Ireland. The hosts are placed 14th on the ICC Points Table, with just 35.

On the other hand, England is placed second in the points table with a rating of 124. However, the reigning World Champions have an opportunity to climb to the top of the standings if they put on a convincing display against the Netherlands.

In all fairness, England enters the series as the heavyweight favourite. So any result barring a 3-0 whitewash should be a huge surprise. All three matches are scheduled at the same venue in Amstelveen.
