Mushfiqur Rahim set to miss West Indies tour

If the latest reports are to be believed, the experienced Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the all-format West Indies tour scheduled in June-July. The series will consist of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 3 T20Is.

As per Cricbuzz, Rahim had already conveyed his unavailability during the ongoing Test series with Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh team director Khaled Mahmud has also confirmed that the 35-year-old batter will be missing the series as he will depart to Saudi Arabia to perform his Hajj.

''Yes, he( Mushfiqur) will be unavailable in the West Indies tour as he wishes to perform his Hajj,'' Mahmud told Cricbuzz.

In his recent outing, Rahim scored a century in the first Test match of the home series against Sri Lanka at Chattogram, which helped the team take the lead in the first innings.

Alongside Rahim, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nayeem Hasan are also doubtful for the West Indies series.

According to the schedule, the Tigers will leave for the West Indies tour on June 6. The series will start from the red-ball format on June 16 at Antigua and will culminate with an ODI fixture in Guyana on the same date of the following month.

The Bangladesh team last toured West Indies in 2018 and had lost the Test series 0-2. However, they secured the victory in ODI and T20I formats.
