Mumbai coach Amol Muzumdar calls for the reintroduction of DRS in Ranji knockouts

Mumbai Ranji team coach Amol Muzumdar has urged the BCCI to reintroduce DRS usage in the Ranji Trophy knockout games. However, the Mumbai coach has in no way blamed the umpiring for his side's loss in the Ranji Trophy final.

"DRS should be reintroduced (in the Ranji Trophy KOs). It should be used as an additional tool (for on-field decisions). If you're talking about taking domestic cricket to another level, you must use it. There are two clear benefits of using DRS in dome cricket-one is that you will take out the ''howlers,''

“The other is that our cricketers will then know how to use DRS to the best effect in international cricket. If they get used to it in domestic cricket, it will be easier to get their DRS calls right while playing for India," as Mazumdar urged the use of the Decision Review System in the Ranji Trophy knockouts in the future.

Madhya Pradesh humbled the 41-time champions in the final, who won their maiden Ranji title in their first Ranji Trophy final in 23 years. In the 1998-99 season, they squared off against Karnataka at the same venue but lost the game by 96 runs.

However, Chandrakant Pandit, who had led Madhya Pradesh then, turned the team's fortunes around as the head coach, leading them to a memorable victory.

Chasing a 108-run target, wicketkeeper-batter Himanshu Mantri scored 37 while Shubham Sharma played a 30-run innings. Star batter Rajat Patidar, who impressed everyone in the IPL with his ability to score big in crucial games, scored a scintillating century in the first innings, followed by a valuable contribution of 30 runs in the second innings, scoring the winning runs to take MP home.
