Moin Khan asks Babar Azam to avoid favouritism in national team

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Moin Khan has advised Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to limit favouritism in the team selections.

In the recently concluded Pakistan-Australia series, a part of the cricket following mass accused Babar of having Shadab Khan in the squad despite not being fully fit. As a result, Imad Wasim was dropped from the white ball format against Australia, and the leg-spinning allrounder was retained.

While talking to Express Entertainment's Ramadan special show, 'Piyara Ramzan', Moin said, "You have to have a vision in the captaincy. I would advise Babar to do justice in his team selection and not to favor his friends."

The 50-year-old old blamed him for not communicating with the selectors properly.

"He should never compromise on the selection and should communicate his decision to the selectors," he added.

Further, when asked about Babar Azam's calibre as a cricketer, the former Pakistani cricketer said that Babar could become the best player in the world if he maintains his good form and has the potential to break all the records of Pakistan batters.

"If Babar maintains his good form, he will become the best player in the world. He has the potential of breaking all records in Pakistan," Moin added.

On enquiring about Mohammed Rizwan's dream form, the former Pakistan skipper said that the keeper-batter is going through a purple patch and is in tremendous shape. ICC Champions Trophy-winning skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed is the next best wicketkeeper to Rizwan.

"He is going through a purple patch and is in some wonderful form. Apart from him, Sarfaraz Ahmed is the best wicketkeeper batter," Moin cited.

Lastly, the Pakistan great also expressed his views on Mohammed Amir's desire to come back to international cricket. He stated that the pacer needs to fight and keep playing. "As long as he wants to play cricket, he needs to fight and keep playing," Moin concluded.
