Sri Lanka Women to tour Pakistan for three T20Is and ODIs each in May-June

Pakistan women will commence their journey in the third edition of the ICC Women’s Championship against Sri Lanka on home soil. In a press release, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the tour details, starting 24th May.

Women in Green will feature in three T20Is on 24th, 26th and 28th May 2022, respectively, before taking part in the same number of ODIs as a - part of the ICC Women’s Championship - followed on the 1st, 3rd and 4th of June. Karachi’s Southend club is set to host all the matches.

The eves from the island nation had failed to qualify for the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup. On the other hand, Pakistan Women did not have a successful run in the tournament as they finished last on the points table.

Both teams will land in Karachi on May 19 and have three days of practice ahead of the T20Is. However, at the Academy Oval ground, Pakistan’s national team will also participate in an 11-day preparatory camp, of which twenty-six players will be part.

Captain Bismah Maroof expressed her excitement, “It is a great privilege for us to play the ICC Women’s Championship on our home soil, and the side is very excited to welcome Sri Lanka. This edition provides us an opportunity to start fresh and make the most of the home advantage.”

She added, “I am sure the team will perform to their fullest potential, and the Pakistan cricket fans, who have extended us great support, will get to see better and consistent results.”

And after the series, the hosts will fly to Ireland for a tri-nation T20I series - involving Australia and the Irish - before heading to Birmingham for Commonwealth Games.
