Playing for Warwickshire, Siraj finished the opening day of his County debut with figures of 4-54. The 28-year-old claimed his fifth victim on the second morning, dismissing well-set batter Lewis Gregory within the first over of Day 2.

Siraj hurled 24 overs in total, and conceded just 82 runs off his spell. Fellow Indian Test cricketer Jayant Yadav also picked up a wicket in the innings, as the Warwickshire bowlers folded up Somerset for just 219 in their first innings.

Warwickshire are currently placed at number nine on the Division One points table. While the 2022 Championship is already beyond their reach at the moment, they will be banking on Siraj to end their campaign on a high.

They are slated to play two more matches this season after their clash against Somerset. They will face Gloucestershire in their penultimate game at Bristol between September 20 and September 23.

The Will Rhodes-led side will then host Hampshire in their final County game of the season from September 26 onwards.
