India cricketers made big moves in the latest ICC Test rankings after their thrilling win in the final Test match against England at The Oval. India won the match by just six runs, tying the five-match series 2-2.
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was the standout performer. He took 23 wickets in the series, the most by any player, and was crucial in the final match. On Day 5, he took 3 of the last 4 wickets to help India seal a dramatic win. As a result, he jumped 12 spots in the ICC Test Bowler Rankings and is now ranked 15th, his best-ever position.
His teammate, Prasidh Krishna, also impressed. He moved up 25 spots to 59th after taking 8 wickets in the final Test. Both Siraj and Krishna reached their highest career rankings thanks to their performance in that match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Breaks Into Top 5 In The Latest ICC Rankings
In the batting Test rankings, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal moved up three places and is now ranked among the top 5 Test batters in the world with 792 rating points. He scored 411 runs in 10 innings at an average of 41.10 during the series.
For England, Joe Root and Harry Brook continue to hold the top two spots in the batter rankings. Fast bowlers Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue also made gains, Atkinson entered the top 10 for the first time, and Tongue rose 14 places to 46th after both took 8 wickets in the last match.
In the Zimbabwe vs New Zealand series, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell moved up four spots to break into the top 10 batters list. His teammate, Matt Henry, jumped three places to 4th in the bowler rankings, achieving a career-best 817 rating points.
