Mohammad Amir denies reports of returning to international cricket

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir had shocked everyone by calling time on his cricket career back in 2020, citing conflicts with the team management. Recently reports were circulating that Amir is considering making a comeback from retirement and playing international cricket for Pakistan.

However, the pacer has denied all rumours, saying that he is not thinking about any such decision.

The 29-year-old is playing various leagues all around the world and is spending time with his family.

The Pakistan speed gun retired from international cricket in December 2020 while openly criticising then head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis for mentally harassing him.

"I am leaving cricket for now because I'm being mentally tortured. I don't think I can bear such torture. I've borne lots of torture from 2010 to 2015, for which I served my time. I've been tortured by being told the PCB invested a lot in me," Amir said while announcing his retirement from international cricket at the end of 2020.

Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis stepped from their respective coaching roles ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. However, Australian great Matthew Hayden and former South African pacer Vernon Philander were signed as batting and bowling consultants for the marquee event.

Mohammed Amir, who was a member of the 2019 50-over World Cup team, has appeared in 36 Tests, 61 ODIS, and 50 T20 Internationals for Pakistan, where he picked 119, 81 and 59 wickets, respectively.
