Melbourne Renegades' Georgia Wareham likely to miss WBBL|08

Australia and Melbourne Renegades leg-spinner Georgia Wareham is likely to miss the eighth edition of the Women's Big Bash League due to her recovery from a knee injury.

Wareham, the vice-captain of the Melbourne Renegades, suffered an ACL injury to her left knee during fielding in a WBBL match last year against the Adelaide Strikers, which initially saw her getting ruled out of the Big Bash League.

Later further scans revealed that she wouldn't be able to take the field for the entire 2022 due to the ACL rupture. Wareham, who underwent an ACL reconstructive surgery earlier this year, was ruled out of the Ashes and missed the World Cup as well.

"Georgia had an ACL reconstruction in February and is progressing well in the early stages of her rehab," Australian Women's Team Physiotherapist, Kate Beerworth, said.

"She's working towards a return to play in early 2023."

The Renegades all-rounder has represented Australia in 35 T20Is, 23 ODIs and one Test, where she picked 36, 24 and one wickets, respectively.

The leg-spinning all-rounders have earlier signed a three-year contract extension for Melbourne Renegades, and she will remain with the club until the end of the ninth edition of Women's Big Bash League.
