Southern Brave (SB) prevailed by two runs in the Eliminator of the Hundred Women's Competition against Trent Rockets (TR) on Friday (September 2) at the Rose Bowl, Southampton.

Following this victory, Brave will now lock horns with Oval Invincibles in the Finals on Saturday.

Adams, McGrath propel Brave to a competitive total

Invited to bat first, Brave lost their key batters Danielle Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley early. On the other end, Smriti Mandhana (16) started well, but soon became a victim of Natalie Sciver.

However, Tahlia McGrath (31) and Maya Bouchier (29) added 34 runs for the fourth wicket to revitalize the team's innings. In the end, Georgia Adams played an important knock of 38 off 24 balls, which boosted the team's total to 134.

Bryony Smith and Georgia Davis scalped two wickets apiece for the Rockets.

In response to the chase, the Rockets were off to a stable start with the openers Smith (16) and Elyse Villani, who added 40 runs at a brisk rate.

Arriving at number three, Sciver was sensational with her ball-striking capabilities to increase the tempo and put the team in good stead. However, she ran out of partners in the middle-overs.

With 22 needed from the last four balls, Sciver smacked three successive sixes on the trot, but failed to connect the last delivery, and remained unbeaten on 72 off 36.

McGrath and Adams contributed with the ball as well to take two wickets each.

Brief Scores:

Southern Brave- 134/6 (100b)

Trent Rockets- 132/7 (100b)
