Mayank Agarwal and Chethan LR did the star turn as Bengaluru Blasters annihilated Gulbarga Mystics by 44 runs in the high-scoring Qualifier to storm into Maharaja T20 Trophy 2022 final on Tuesday, August 23.

The match was a cliff-hanger full of drama, and action where the pendulum kept tilting from one side to another, courtesy of Rohan Patil's fight back. However, once he perished, victory became low-hanging fruit for Bengaluru.

Rohan Patil's century in vain

Asked to bat first, Bengaluru posted a monstrous total of 227/3 in their 20 overs. In reply, Gulbarga Mystics skittled out for 183 in 18.2 overs.

Chasing 228, it was only 21-year-old Rohan Patil who kept the chase alive for Gulbarga. The southpaw was pulling and driving almost everything remotely in his reach.

However, there was not any support from the other end as Mystics kept on losing wickets and eventually bundled out for 183. Rohan Patil, the show-stealer finished with 108 off 49.

Ronit More and Jagadeesha Suchith were the picks of the bowlers for Bengaluru, having scalped three and two wickets each.

Earlier, Bengaluru Blasters were put in to bat after Manish Pandey won the toss and opted to bowl first.

The league leaders made the most of a batting paradise at the Chinnaswamy as opening partners Mayank Agarwal and Chethan LR put up a 162-run stand in just 94 deliveries.

Skipper Agarwal sent the Gulbarga bowlers on a leather hunt and peeled off an unbeaten 112 off just 61 balls, laced with 9 fours and 6 monstrous sixes.

Chethan LR, on the other hand, embraced his 48-ball 81-run knock with five boundaries and as many sixes.

Aniruddha Joshi (20 off 9 balls), and Jagadeesha Suchith (7 off 3 balls) also chipped in with handy cameos at the backend as Bengaluru ended up posting a daunting target for Manish Pandey-led lads.

For Gulbarga, Vidhwath Kaverappa bagged two wickets while Ajay Gouda got one to his credit. The Mystics will now take on Mysore Warriors in the second Qualifier, the winner of which will face Bengaluru in the final of the tournament.
