Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has bounced back after an initial poor display in IPL 2024, securing three straight wins to boost their confidence and keep their playoff chances alive.

In a crucial clash, RCB defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 4 wickets, that took them to the seventh spot in the points table.

Despite their winning streak, RCB management and fans are concerned about the form of Glenn Maxwell, who once again failed to deliver with the bat.

Although Maxwell has been effective with the ball, his batting form has been inconsistent. Against GT, Maxwell could only manage 4 runs off three balls during RCB's chase of 148 runs.

After the opening duo of Virat Kohli (42) and Faf du Plessis (64) added a quickfire 92 runs off just 5.5 overs which is RCB's highest Powerplay score of all time, RCB's middle order collapsed, including Maxwell.

However, Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh provided the crucial finish at the end to secure victory for RCB.

Parthiv Patel attacks Maxwell on X

Former RCB player Parthiv Patel criticized Maxwell for his poor performance. Taking to his official X account, Parthiv called Maxwell the “most overrated cricketer” in the league. “Glenn Maxwell….HE IS THE MOST OVERRATED player in the history of IPL…” he wrote on his account.

The tweet sparked a heated debate, with Maxwell's fans attacking Parthiv Patel in the comments.

After seeing the attack, he hosted a poll asking fans to compare Maxwell's performances in the IPL to those for Australia. An huge majority favored Maxwell's performances for Australia.

Maxwell is an important player for RCB. Since joining Bengaluru based franchise Maxwell has been crucial for the team, scoring over 400 runs in the previous season and surpassing the 500-run mark for only the second time in his IPL career during the 2021 season (513 runs in 15 matches).

RCB needed Maxwell to return to his best form for moving forward in the tournament.
