Australian international Matthew Renshaw has signed a three-year deal with his former Big Bash League (BBL) team Brisbane Heat. The left-hander has been released by the Strikers so that he could spend time with his family during the birth of his first child in December.

Renshaw has featured in 25 BBL matches for the Strikers since making his debut in 2020 and scored 513 runs at a decent strike rate of 122. He could potentially replace the outgoing Chris Lynn from the Heat line-up.

The Queensland-born played for Heat between 2018 and 2020, amassing 549 runs with four half-centuries.

Renshaw thanked the Adelaide team management for understanding his move and wished the club luck for the upcoming season.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Strikers. I have a lot of good mates there and enjoyed the environment that the club provided for us. I wish them all the best for the coming season and take plenty of positives away from my time in Adelaide."

The opener led Somerset in the Royal London Cup, where his team finished at number eight in Group A. He accumulated 271 runs in seven games with one hundred and fifty.

Earlier, playing in the County Championship Division One, the out of favour Australian player scored a staggering 620 runs in eight games, with two hundreds.

The 26-year-old last played Test cricket for Australia in 2018, but he has been a constant feature on the 'A' tours.
