BR Sharath all smiles after match-winning knock
Shivamogga Strikers scythe through the Mysore Warriors with a 13-run win in Mysore.
The match, marking the 15th of the ongoing Maharaja T20 competition, saw the Strikers charting up 174-8 off their 20 overs.
Opening batter BR Sharath gunned down the Warriors' bowling attack with a rapid 35-ball 53 at the top. Contributions from Krishnamurthy Siddharth and D Avinash elevated the Strikers total to 174.
The Warriors response began by losing three wickets within the powerplay. Number three batsman Pavan Deshpande provided some stability to the run-chase with 64.
Lochan Appanna, who failed to pick up a wicket earlier, unleashed fury with the bat to keep his side in the game. The cricketer clubbed three boundaries and a six during his undefeated 14-ball 27 to keep the match going till the final over.
His rebellion efforts, however, were not enough to guide his side past the finishing line.
The two sides will now play their next Maharaja T20 matches on August 17. While the Strikers are slated to face-off the Bengaluru Blasters, the Warriors will be facing the Mangalore United on the same day.
