Bengaluru Blasters continue their table-topping run this Maharaja T20 League 2022 tournament. On Sunday, August 21, the Mayank Agarwal-led side came up clutch in a thriller against the Hubli Tigers to register their seventh win of the season.

Mohammed Taha’s 71 goes in vain as Tigers go down in a see-saw tussle

Batting first, the Blasters flayed the Tigers bowling line-up as they piled up 171-8 off their 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Shivkumar Rakshith slammed a 30-ball 50 to become the top-scorer of the innings.

Sharan Goud was the pick of the Tigers bowlers as the speedster struck three times in his three-over spell. He was assisted by BU Shivakumar, who removed two well-set batters in the form of Rakshith and Aniruddha Joshi.

The Tigers were always a nose behind in their response, until some late blitzkrieg hitting brought down the margin of defeat to just two runs. Mohammed Taha staged the lone rebellion of the run-chase with his 71 while the next highest-scorer of the innings was Tushar Singh with his 25.

The narrow defeat means that the Tigers will now have to win their last league game against Mangalore United in order to book their knockout tickets. Their match will commence from 7:00 PM onwards on August 22 in Bengaluru.
