Since Ben Stokes took command of England's Test side, they have been on the rise. Stokes, in a cohort with new head coach Brendon McCullum managed to beat New Zealand and India, including three mind boggling chases. Come, South Africa, they were dragged down to earth, suffering a crushing defeat in the first Test at Lord's.

Former England skipper Nasser Hussain, has praised Stokes for his leadership skills, which saw the team rise from a disastrous 2021.

However, Hussain believes that it is about time for the England captain to perform with the bat if they have any chance of making a comeback in the remaining two Tests.

"He has not made a half-century since his second week in the job in June. The one thing I will say about how he has batted in this period is that he is obviously trying to set the tone for the new culture of the team. Yes, be positive, set the tone, but do it by getting a lot of runs." - Hussain wrote in his article for  Mail Online
