Brad Hodge joins Melbourne Renegades as new assistant coach

Former Australian batter Brad Hodge has been appointed as the new assistant coach of Melbourne Renegades ahead of the Big Bash League season 12.

Melbourne Renegades on Thursday (August 25) confirmed that Hodge will join the coaching staff of the club as an assistant coach which consists of David Saker (Head Coach) and Michael Lewis (Bowling Coach).

Hodge, who started his Big Bash journey as a Renegades player in the competition’s inaugural season, returns to the club as an assistant coach. 

After taking retirement from all forms of the game in 2018, Hodge has donned the coaching role in the BBL and the IPL as well. He has also worked with the Cricket Australia development sides.

“It’s great to be back. I’m super excited to get back into a different zone of Big Bash. I’ve been broadcasting for a couple of years, I played a few years ago – it’s such a great product. I’m looking forward to coming back and being part of that process. 

I love the process of building players up to match day, helping them prepare, and ultimately performing on the day. Helping the young guys is something I’m really looking forward to, there’s so much talent there,"  said Brad Hodge.
