Kuldeep Yadav in action vs UAE - (Source : AFP)
On Wednesday, September 10, India wreaked havoc as the Suryakumar Yadav-led side registered a nine-wicket win against UAE to start their Asia Cup campaign on a high. The Men in Blue won the toss and opted to field first, a decision which turned out to be gold.
Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball as the left-arm spinner took four quick wickets to rattle the UAE and restrict the opponent to just 57 runs. Yadav also won the player of the match for his heroics.
It was a dream night for the wrist spinner as Kuldeep registered the figures of 4/ 7 in 2.1 overs. The 30-year-old went on to shatter several records and script new feats as well.
Kuldeep Yadav Goes Past Shadab Khan
Most importantly, Kuldeep's four-wicket haul for just seven runs in his spell is second-best bowling performance in Asia Cup T20 history. Notably, Yadav now only stands behind India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is the only cricketer to pick a five-wicket haul in the history of the Asia Cup in the shortest format.
Further, Yadav left behind Pakistan's Shadab Khan to register the best-ever figures by a spinner in Asia Cup T20 history. Previously, Shadab held the record for his 4/8 against Hong Kong in the 2022 Asia Cup T20 edition.
Not just this, but Kuldeep also left behind Shadab to register the fastest-ever four-wicket haul in T20 Asia Cup history. The Indian spinner took just 13 balls to take four scalps, which includes three wickets in a single over.
Meanwhile, Shadab had taken 16 deliveries to take four wickets, but Kuldeep took three deliveries fewer than him to script the feat to his name.
