BCCI gets shamed on Twitter [Source: Screengrabs]
Social media has been flooded with trends ahead of the Asia Cup following the announcement of the tournament schedule. The “Asia Cup Boycott” movement gained traction after the India-Pakistan match was fixed for September 14. The protest, sparked by the Pahalgam terror attack, saw Indian fans calling for a boycott after the Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to go ahead with the fixture.
Now, on the eve of the match, September 13, online calls for the boycott have resurfaced, with netizens urging fans to shun the high-profile IND vs PAK clash set to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium which will be televised and streamed across India.
Why The IND vs PAK Boycott Call Is Trending?
#BCCI now trends on Twitter (currently X) as netizens call out the board's hypocrisy to stand against terrorism for the Pahalgam tragedy back on April 22. Regarding the protest, even the Indian team from the World Championship of Legends withdrew their contention spot to not play against Pakistan.
Now, arranging and agreeing for a full-fledged global clash between the two countries is "nothing less than being double-faced" as per Twitter users. Now, let's take a look at how Indian fans are calling out BCCI on social media and urging fans not to spectate the high-octane clash.
"If BCCI and GoI can’t call off the match between India and Pakistan, high time we as citizens boycott viewing the match. Say no to cricket over terror let us unitedly stand with the 26 families of Pahalgam terror attack," - @priyankac19

"I’m quite shocked to see the shameless behaviour of the @BCCI that is not just anti- national, but anti- human. Playing with pakistan, from where the terrorists who massacred fellow Indians in Pahalgam came, for money is absolute shameless. Those playing must remember this. What is worse? Pakistan boycotted the Asia Cup (Hockey) that was played in India. But BCCI for money, is playing this game. " - @AUThackeray
IND vs PAK To Take Place In Dubai
Amid calls from fans to boycott the game, reports suggest that several BCCI officials have also chosen not to watch the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup clash on September 14, with no plans to travel to the UAE for the match.
However, the high-voltage encounter will go ahead as scheduled at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, with live action beginning at 8:00 PM IST.
