The first Test between Australia and Sri Lanka is currently underway at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Steven Smith's Australia won the toss and opted to bat first and as announced by the skipper Josh Inglis will be making his Test debut for Australia. He received his Baggy Green from ex-player Geoff Marsh. He became the 470th player to represent Australia in the longest format.
Young-gun Sam Konstas, who was part of Australia’s squad during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, has not been selected for the opening Test against Sri Lanka. Despite his inclusion in the squad, Konstas has been left out of the playing XI, with selectors opting for experience and a spin-heavy lineup in the spin-friendly conditions of Galle.
