In a significant development, Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is expected to miss the remainder of the Test series against India after sustaining a calf strain during warm-ups on the fourth day of the ongoing Test at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Josh Hazlewood was noticeably delayed in entering the field at the start of play on Tuesday (December 17). The 33-year-old spent significant time speaking with head coach Andrew McDonald and team physio Nick Jones before eventually taking to the field.

However, when Josh Hazlewood began his spell, it was evident that he was struggling, with his pace dipping below 131 km/h. After just one over, he appeared to be in discomfort and was seen having a lengthy conversation with captain Pat Cummins, Steven Smith, and the team physio during a drinks break.
Shortly thereafter, he walked off the field, with concerns mounting over the extent of his injury.
Cricket Australia initially confirmed he had 'calf awareness' and he went for scans which confirmed the severity of the injury.
"Josh Hazlewood has sustained a right sided calf strain which will prevent him from playing any further part in Test match against India in Brisbane. He sustained the injury during the warm-up this morning and after bowling one over was unable to continue. He is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series. A squad replacement will be made in due course." an further CA statement.
It is important to mention that, in Hazlewood's absence, Scott Boland is expected to be called up for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, as the Australians look to fill the void left by their in-form pacer. He had returned to the side for this Test after a side strain ruled him out of Adelaide.
