Josh Cobb extends Northamptonshire stint for two more seasons

All-rounder Josh Cobb has penned down a two-year contract extension with Northamptonshire, keeping himself at Wantage Road until the end of the 2024 season.

The contract has been extended on the back of Cobb's fruitful season with the bat this year, where he went on to score more than 600 runs across the T20 Blast and County Championship matches.

The 32-year-old joined the club, moving from Leicestershire ahead of the 2015 season. He has made 187 appearances for the club across all formats, scoring over 6,000 runs, including four centuries, 43 half-centuries.

In his reaction, Cobb said,

"I'm pleased to be staying at Northamptonshire. I've really enjoyed my time so far and would love to get the club back to playing more big games and finals. I just want to try and influence and win games whenever I'm playing. It doesn't matter if that's in whites or coloured kit."

Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler also seemed delighted at having the experienced player back in the team and said,

"Great to have Josh (Cobb) signed up with us for the next two years. He's a genuine multi-format player who still has huge aspirations to play all formats moving forward."

Cobb is currently playing for Welsh Fire in The Hundred 2022 but could return for Northamptonshire's final four County Championship matches, starting with a trip to Hampshire on 5 September.
