In an unfortunate turn of events, star English batter Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the ongoing Men's Hundred competition owing to a calf injury.

Buttler sustained the injury during Manchester Originals' fifth league stage fixture against Southern Brave, following which he missed the subsequent match against Northern Superchargers last night.

Notably, Buttler was captaining the Originals in the marquee event. The English white-ball skipper was in sublime touch in the tournament, amassing 203 runs at an outstanding strike rate of 149.26. So, his injury can be termed a massive setback for the Originals.

In Buttler's absence, Laurie Evans is chosen as the captain of Manchester for the remainder of this season.

In another significant development, Andre Russell will also no longer feature in Manchester's remaining games as he has returned home to participate in the Caribbean Premier League. As he was the premier finisher of Manchester, his absence will also be felt by the team, particularly towards the back end of their innings.
