John Campbell handed four-year anti-doping ban

In a shocking turn of events, West Indies opener John Campbell has been handed a four-year ban by the Jamaica Anti Doping Commission (JADCO) for violating an anti-doping rule.

Campbell was found guilty by a three-member panel of evading, refusing or failing to submit to sample collection. Such non-cooperation from the veteran batter led to the punishment.

Here's what the judgement read

"The panel is persuaded to a comfortable degree of satisfaction that the athlete committed an anti-doping rule violation, namely breach of JADCO rule 2.3. The panel does not find, on the evidence presented, that the athlete's anti-doping violation was not intentional,"

"In the circumstances of this case the athlete is ineligible for a period of 4 years."

A swashbuckling southpaw, Campbell has represented West Indies in 20 Tests, six ODIs and two T20Is. He has had modest success on the highest level, managing 1147 runs, including three fifties and one hundred. The 29-year-old played his last match for the Men in Maroon in a Test match against Bangladesh in June this year.
