Joey Evison joins Leicestershire CCC for the rest of the season

Leicestershire County Cricket Club have roped in Nottinghamshire all-rounder Joey Evison on a six-week loan for the remainder of the club games.

Evison will be available to the Running Foxes for the remainder of the T20 Blast group stage. The 20-year-old all-rounder could also feature in the four-day practice match against the touring Indian Test Team, and the County Championship matches against Sussex and Glamorgan next month. Evison will wear the number 90 shirt for the Running Foxes. He is scheduled to return to Trent Bridge in time for the start of the One-Day Cup.

The former U19 England cricketer has made an amazing start to the season by hitting his maiden first-class century in the opening Championship fixture of the campaign. He scored a brilliant unbeaten 109 in Nottinghamshire's County Championship game against Sussex in April.

In his eight first-class games, he has scored 393 runs at a reasonable average of 32.8. The right-arm pacer also boasts a great bowling average of 22.1 while picking up 21 wickets, recording career-best bowling figures of 5 for 21 against Durham last summer.

The right-handed batter possesses an admirable white-ball batting pedigree too. He smashed an 18-ball fifty for the England U19 side against Sri Lanka in December 2019 to become the youngest to score the fastest half-century, equaling India's Rishabh Pant's record. Evison averages 24 striking at 133.33 in List A cricket for Nottinghamshire.

"I am very grateful to Leicestershire for giving me the opportunity to express myself as a player and continue my development. I am really looking forward to working with the coaches here and am excited to get going," said Joey Evison after signing for the Club.

Speaking about Evison's arrival, Leicestershire Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, said:

"We are very excited that Joey has decided to join us over the next month,”

"We are really pleased we can offer him the opportunity to play first-team cricket, and we look forward to seeing what he can contribute to the side," he concluded.
