  • Jemimah Rodriguez Lights Up The Hundred With Unbeaten 92 Off 43 Balls Marchant De Lange Picks First Fifer

Jemimah Rodriguez lights up The Hundred with unbeaten 92 off 43 balls, Marchant de Lange picks first fifer

It was a stunning day of action in The Hundred on Saturday, July 24 with Indian Women’s team member Jemimah Rodriguez hitting a blistering 92 off 43 balls playing for Northern Superchargers Women against Welsh Firea Women at Headingley in Leeds.

Later on that evening, Trent Rockets’ South African import Marchant de Lange picked up the first five-wicket haul of the competition.  He achieved this feat against Southern Brave at the Rockets’ home in Trent Bridge.

Reacting to her brilliant innings which were compiled of 17 fours and six, Rodrigues said, "I had to stay calm and play my game because I am good enough, that's why I'm playing in the team.” Not being able to play in any of the three T20Is that Indian Women played against England Women recently, the 21-year-old Bombay born made sure that she sets a statement ahead of the Australia tour.

“A slight shift that I got my mindset on, that I don't need to put too much pressure on myself to go out and score or prove myself or make it big. I just stuck to my game, kept things simple and played the best cricket I possibly knew,” added Rodrigues.

De Lange was brought into the squad after Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz, the original overseas player for the Rockets was not able to make it to the United Kingdom due to work permit related issues. The Somerset player was thrilled with his historic achievement.

“Really delighted, I must say it was unexpected but I am really happy,” said the man who was touching the 90 Miles Per Hour barrier with each delivery he delivered on the pitch.

“I just felt the surface was good, a little bit of bounce, that was good for me as a fast bowler. It was a bit strange (new tournament), but I just needed to adapt and stick to the basics. Hopefully, we can carry this form through,” added the 30-year-old who finished with figures of 5/20 from his 20 balls.

The Hundred | Manchester Originals vs Birmingham Phoenix: Where to watch Live, Probable XI, Fantasy XI

Moeen Ali’s men would be considering themselves lucky after a bailout by young and unknown talents in lower batsmen Chris Benjamin and Benny Howell. But their challenge in the next game is going to be a bit more difficult as away from home, they face a bruising Manchester Originals at Old Trafford. The Originals were beaten by nine runs in their first encounter against Oval Invincibles away from home. Their star players in Jos Buttler, Phil Salt and Colin Munro couldn’t really do much and by the time Carlos Braithwaite came into his own, it was too late to rescue the skinning Originals boat. In this match, the two teams would be giving it their all as stars like Ali, Liam Livingstone, Buttler and Brathwaite could give the Manchester crowd a hundred per cent entertainment. Manchester Originals vs Birmingham Phoenix: Match Details Match Number- 06 Date and Time: Jul 25, 2021, 11:00:00 PM IST, 06:30 pm Local Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester Live Stream in India: Fancode Pitch Report In the last T20I played here, the match between Pakistan and hosts England went down to the wire and so did the one prior to that between Lancashire and Yorkshire in the T20 Blast. The deteriorating pitches after a long English summer are helping the spinners and hence the likes of Imran Tahir, Ali and Matt Parkinson will remain in the game. Weather Forecast With chances of precipitation less than 5%, the match at iconic Old Trafford would most likely be devoid of intervention from the weather. The temperatures will be ranging in the early twenties. And thus it promises to be a great game. IRE vs SA | 3rd T20I: South Africa complete clean sweep win

South Africa completed a clean sweep win against Ireland in the three-match T20I series after winning the final clash by 49 runs in Belfast. Chasing a stiff total of 190, Ireland were restricted to 140/9 in 20 overs. The hosts didn’t have a great start after they lost Kevin O'Brien early in the chase and never looked steady in the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals to get reduced to 102/8. Captain Andrew Balbirnie top-scored with 27 off 22. For the Proteas, it was George Linde, Lizaad Williams and Wiaan Mulder who scalped a couple of wickets apiece. Earlier, the visitors rode on an emphatic 127-run partnership between Temba Bavuma and Hendricks and then a late surge from David Miller to post 189/2 in 20 overs. While Bavuma struck 72 off 51, Hendricks all notched up 69 off 48 and Miller chipped in with an unbeaten 17-ball 36. Simi Singh and Barry McCarthy were the only bowlers among the wickets for Ireland. Miller, who scored some valuable runs during the course, talked about his knock after the match. “It's nice to contribute after the one-dayers. I was struggling a little bit in the West Indies, it was nice to come out and get some runs on the board and hit it sweet again. Series win as well, a little bonus there,” he said. Captain Bavuma talked about the side’s preparations for the upcoming World T20 and his captaincy. “World Cup is still a couple of months away, we still have time to iron out all the little things, we are looking forward to that event. It's (captaincy) been tough. Personally from my point of view, you always want to lead with the bat as the leader. Being short there makes it tough,” he said.
