The Hundred | Faf du Plessis ruled out for first three games, Ben Stokes to lead Superchargers

Northern Superchargers skipper Faf du Plessis has been ruled out from the first three games of his team in The Hundred and Ben Stokes, the England all-rounder Testvice captain has been asked to lead the side in his absence. Superchargers play their first game against Welsh Fire at Headingley, Leeds on Saturday, July 24. Various reports suggest that he continues to suffer from a concussion which he picked up during the Pakistan Super League 2021. Even during the commentary of The Hundred game between the Northern Superchargers and Welsh Fire, it was revealed that concussion was the reason why he wasn't chosen in the playing XI. Faf, who has already retired from Test cricket, wasn't part of the ODI and T20I set up the South African team that toured West Indies and Ireland in May- June and June- July respectively. He now plays mainly in leagues and had got concussed while with his side Quetta Gladiators while practising in UAE. It would be interesting to see when and how he recovers as after The Hundred, his services would be required by the St Lucia Zouks franchise in the Caribbean Premier League and by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

The manner in which the ODI series was finished would not have been liked by the Indian team. But even during the loss, the Indian teams brought out p[ositives in form of Rahul Chahar and Chetan Sakariya’s bowling.
