Things couldn't have turned out in a better way than this for Jaydev Unadkat. The last few months haven't been less than a fairytale for the 31-year-old seamer.

Last month, Unadkat led Saurashtra to the glory of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, before returning in the Test fold for India after a long leap of 12 years.

The fairytale doesn't end here. The Saurashtra skipper pulled another rabbit off his hat during the ongoing clash against Delhi at Rajkot. On the cold morning of the first day, Unadkat became the first bowler in Ranji Trophy history to bag a hat-trick in the first over of the match.

After being asked to bowl first, captain Unadkat took the new ball himself and started off the fine work right away.

He knocked Dhruv Shorey’s stumps on the third ball of the game itself, and then took the wicket of Vaibhav Rawal on the next delivery, before finding his opposite number Yash Dhull off guard on the hattrick ball.

Unadkat later went on to add three more wickets in his kitty, putting the Dhull-led team in deep waters with a score of 10 for 7 at one moment.

His teammates in Chirag Jani and Prerak Mankad have also not lent any breathing space, as the opposition's score reads 74/8 after 24 overs.
