Veteran Indian spinner Jayant Yadav has come in as the impact player substitute for Gujarat Titans in their ongoing IPL 2023 face-off against Lucknow Super Giants. Yadav, who is known for his classical off-spin bowling, replaces Shubman Gill in the Titans' XI.

Yadav's inclusion was expected, as he can add massive value to the Titans' playing XI being a wily customer with the ball.

With the surface in Lucknow assisting spinners, Gujarat Titans made the right call to bring a spinner as their impact player while defending the total.

Also, as LSG have plenty of left-handed batters- Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya- in their top seven, Yadav is expected to have a decent outing in the second half of the game.

Jayant Yadav IPL Career & Stats

Overall, Jayant Yadav has featured in 19 IPL matches, scalping 8 wickets at a superb economy of 6.87. This is his first-ever game for Gujarat Titans and he has previously represented Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in the tournament.

Regarding the match, Gujarat Giants, after opting to bat first, managed to post a modest 135-run total on the board. They had a disastrous start to their innings, with Shubman Gill departing for a two-ball duck.

However, a composed half century from Hardik Pandya and a useful 47-run knock from Wriddhiman Saha helped the defending champions breach the 130-run mark.

Besides these two, the other GT batters struggled to get going, as LSG had an outstanding time with the ball on a tad two-paced surface.

As of writing, the hosts are 20 for no loss, with skipper KL Rahul and dynamic West Indies batter Kyle Mayers batting on 14* and 6*, respectively.
